Red Dog is our mascot and loves meeting everyone.
New Zealand is situated in the South Pacific Ocean 1900 km to the east of Australia. With a land area of 268,000 sq km it is similar in size to Japan or Britain, comprised of 2 main islands - the North Island and South Island, with several outlying islands.
New Zealand has a population of just over 4.2 million people of which more than 1 million live in Auckland.
The capital city is Wellington, situated at the southern tip of the North Island.
Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island.
Over half of New Zealand's total land area is pasture and arable land and more than a quarter is forested. Predominantly mountainous and hilly some 13% of the total area consists of alpine terrain, including many peaks exceeding 3000 metres. Lakes and rivers cover 1% of the land. The climate is temperate and relatively mild.
